TB8100 Base Station/Repeater Software Feature Upgrades
The TB8100 has a range of powerful capabilities, but some of them are only available with a software licence.
Tait's software licencing system means that you can select and pay for those features that you need rather than buying a base station/repeater that has many features you may not use. This gives you much more flexibility because additional features can be added simply by upgrading the software.
You can either order a base station with the features you need already licenced or obtain licence keys later on. (The base station already has these feature sets but it needs licence keys to enable them.)

What additional software features are available for the TB8100?
The following three additional software feature sets are available for the TB8100 base station:
- Advanced Profiles
- Alarm Reporting
- Power Save
You can read more about each feature set in the relevant product information sheet in the TB8100 Brochures/Flyers section of this website.
How do I buy software feature sets?
These can be purchased through the normal ordering process. Simply specify the Software Feature Enabler (SFE) required and the serial of the reciter for which it is required.
How do I enable these features?
Once you have purchased licence keys, you can enter these manually into the Service Kit software feature enable screen.
You can also have the keys emailed to you as small files. The email contains instructions on how to install these files to enable the software feature set(s) that you purchased.
(You will also find information about enabling and disabling software features in the Service Kit User's Manual or Online Help.)
What is a software licence key?
A software licence key is small text file with a .KEY extension. The file name is made up of three parts: the serial number of the reciter, the feature code, and a sequence number. (For example, 12345678_x_y.key - where 12345678 is the serial number, x is the feature code, and y is the sequence number.)
Software licence keys will only work for the radio with the corresponding serial number. The advantage of this is that if you have a large number of radios that need to have a feature enabled, you can distribute all the keys to all of the service PCs. The Software Feature Enabler will locate the correct software licence key for the radio that is is currently connected to.
Also, software licence keys can be installed to service PCs before the radios are available. Once service personnel have the radio, they can then enable a feature.
