TN1100 infrastructure now includes a powerful new feature, Lone Worker, which improves the safety of staff working on their own in hazardous environments.

When the Lone Worker feature is enabled, the user must respond to audio tones from their radio at predetermined times, to confirm their safety. If they fail to respond the radio will ring continuously, and if there is still no response an emergency call is sent to all radios.

Enabling/disabling monitoring

Each radio terminal transmits pre-determined status messages to the TN1100, to enable and cancel the Lone Worker feature.

Different status values can turn the function on and off, as well as allowing several options for the monitoring interval and alarm destination.

Alerting the user

When an individual Lone Worker timer expires, the TN1100 alerts the radio user by sending a message that makes the radio ring continuously. The radio user can respond either by pressing the PTT momentarily, or by pressing the 'X' cancel key.

Generating the alarm

If the user fails to respond to the alert tone, the TN1100 makes further attempts to maintain the radio in the ringing state for several minutes. If there is still no response, the alarm condition is entered.

  • The alarm call is received by any radio in the system programmed to respond to a specific group ident
  • The alarm call appears to originate from the specific radio in the alarm state. The radio in the alarm state is itself included in the call, allowing for an attempt at speech communication.
