Tait's airport communications system sales in Italy are taking flight through the success of local dealer Jescom Europe.

Jescom has supplied conventional communications systems for ground communications at Falcone-Borsellino Airport in Palermo and Marco Polo Airport in Venice, and a TaitNet 1327 trunked system for Caselle airport in Turin.

With its clever group and individual calling capability, including PABX/PSTN interconnect, TaitNet is an ideal solution for a modern airport, according to Giancarlo Bandiera, Sales Manager at Jescom Europe.

Staff at the Caselle Airport are using Tait Orca 5000 portables and T2040 mobiles to make use of all of these features. "The system brings together the communications for the many different groups of ground personnel within the airport," says Mr Bandiera.

He adds that both the Palermo and Venice Airports purchased their conventional systems with a view to upgrading to TaitNet trunking in the future.

The airports required robust, dependable terminals and high performing base stations. "The T800 base stations will provide an excellent RF platform for T1810-based trunking systems in the future."

Specialists in two-way radio communications, Jescom Europe has a wide range of customers spread throughout Italy, from the islands in the south to the alps to the north.

Last year Jescom sold several other T1810-based TaitNet systems, including a four-channel system used by organisers of the Venice Marathon. During the three days of the event organisers and medical staff communicated with Tait Orca 5000 portables.
