Tait Business Grows in Indonesia
Date : September 19, 2002
Tait South East Asia expects to treble its business in Indonesia this year, with significant sales growth coming through a new distributor, TRS (Tait Radio Systems Indonesia).
Formerly known as PT Simoco, TRS is now exclusively supplying Tait products, predominantly in the oil and transportation markets.
TRS has won a major contract to supply a five-channel trunked radio system and Intrinsically Safe Tait Orca 5000 portables to the large oil producer, Vico.
The system will provide coverage along a 1000km stretch of coastline, ensuring communications from the company's oil wells through to the end of the production process.
TRS President Simon Rikoemahoe says the Vico contract was won against the largest mobile radio suppliers in the world.
"We have been working with Vico to secure this contract for almost two years," says Mr Rikoemahoe. "In particular the customer appreciated the way the TaitNet system could be customised to their requirements.
"We are confident this advanced, reliable system, will be ideal for meeting their needs."
The transition to supplying Tait products has been a smooth one for TRS.
"We have been very impressed with Tait. Short delivery times, and excellent responsiveness, particularly in replying to questions we have about the products."
Indonesia has rapidly become Tait's most important market in South East Asia , according to Regional Manager, Lionel Earle.
"It's a very large country, with a population of 240 million people, and there are significant opportunities for mobile radio sales," says Lionel. "With the hard work of our existing dealers, and very experienced new representatives like TRS, we are well placed to build our business there."
