Tait mobile radios have been customised for use in a nationwide civil defence communications system in Sweden.

German-based system integrator HORMANN was contracted for theimplementation of thesystem and chose Tait T2010 mobile radios for theradio links.

The system will link approximately 200 control centres and 5000 sirenstations throughout Sweden.

The standard T2010 has been customised to integrate with the HORMANN sirencontrol equipment.

There are several reasons why HORMANN chose Tait radios. 'A product whichspecifically meets the customer's needs is paramount for such a wide scaleproject,' says Mr Kropp, Production Manager at HORMANN GmbH. 'And of coursereliability and cost effectiveness are vital too.'

The T2010s and siren control equipment will be installed at both the controlcentres, which will monitor and activate the siren stations, and the siren sitesthemselves.

HORMANN is investigating opportunities to provide similar civil defencecommunications systems in other parts of Europe.
