Tait Releases TB8100 in 800MHz Band
Date : January 18, 2005
Tait has now released the 800MHz version of its advanced new TB8100 base station, which is set to open up many new market opportunities for the company throughout the world.
The software-flexible TB8100 base station is now available in UHF, VHF and 800MHz, with significant international demand for products within these frequency bands.
Infrastructure Product Manager Margaret Grant says the TB8100 is already proving popular for customers around the world, and now that 800MHz product has been released, further demand is expected. Tait has already sold a number of 800MHz TB8100s, notably in the United States, Bangladesh and India.
"We're expecting this product to be in high demand in worldwide markets. There's particularly high demand for it in the police and security market in the Indian sub-continent, so our release of the TB8100 in this band opens up a whole new market for us," Ms Grant says.
Initial worldwide sales of TB8100 base stations in the 800MHz band include:
- 10 TB8100 base stations sold to Jaipur Police in India, for a single-site, 10-channel system. The 800MHz band is used predominantly by police in India, and Tait now has access to this market with this release.
- A two-node, seven-site, 28-channel trunked system using TB8100 800MHz base stations, is being constructed for an elite police force in Bangladesh, to provide coverage and access over several hundred kilometres.
- Three TB8100 800MHz base stations have been sold to Tait US dealer Durham Communications for use by the City of Peoria, Arizona, in the police and fire departments. The City of Peoria already uses a TaitNet QS Simulcast system, however these base stations are independent of that system.
New feature for TB8100
A new TB8100 feature has now been made available, coinciding with the 800MHz release. Computer Controlled Interface (CCI) enables third-party system integrators to develop their own applications that remotely monitor and control a network of TB8100 base stations via a single RS232 port.
CCI is a command protocol that is embedded in the base station firmware, and also allows users to change the operational channel via the serial interface, and read any of the extensive monitoring parameters of the base station in real time.
"Any of the TB8100 Task Manager 'Actions' can be invoked via the CCI protocol interface, resulting in an even more flexible and adaptable base station solution ready for simple systems or incredibly complicated remote control, monitoring and diagnostics," Ms Grant says.
