Advanced New P25 Digital Equipment
Date : July 4, 2006
Tait is releasing a complete range of high performing, conventional APCO P25 digital radio products - portable and mobile terminals, base stations and IP-based networks.
The VHF and UHF solutions will be available in North America and Oceania by the middle of the year, with other regions and frequency bands to follow.
The first products to be released are the TB9100 digital base station and the TaitNet P25 network solution, several of which are already in use in North America and New Zealand.
Tait's first P25 terminals are the TM9155 mobile, the limited keypad TP9155 portable and full keypad TP9160 portable.
Tait will eventually release a complete array of P25 digital products in all of its markets, including simulcast and trunked solutions.
"Our intention is to be a supplier of complete, affordable and high quality P25 solutions," says Tait Group Sales Manager, Brett Smythe. "Initial market feedback is confirming that we are providing the innovative product features and high performance required by exacting public safety and public service users."
The Southern Hemisphere's largest mobile radio supplier, Tait unveiled its P25 product at APCO International Expo in Montreal last August.
"We've now also demonstrated operational P25 products at tradeshows in United States and Australia, and customers have been most complimentary," says Mr Smythe.
"Particular talking points have been the advanced features of our P25 base station and the flexibility and simplicity of our IP-based network architecture. The terminals have attracted attention for their robustness, excellent audio quality and low delay compared to many competing products.
Mr Smythe says the open protocol APCO P25 standard offers significant advantages over other digital technologies.
"P25 is interoperable with analogue systems; can use existing frequency allocations; and is very flexible, making it well suited to both wide-area, low-capacity coverage, as well as higher density urban applications.
"It's also more cost-effective for business and industry, and public service, as well as public safety use, and it's an open protocol with IPR that is easily licensed."
