TB8100 Technical Support From Over 4,000 Kilometers Away
Date : May 15, 2007
When an important Tait customer recently changed its default TB8100 password and forgot the new password, Tait dealer Direct Communications and Tait Project Manager Mark Pilkingtonwere able to solve the problem in less than 10 minutes.
Sounds Simple? For a password to be reset on a base station the normal procedure is to return the reciter module to the Tait Brisbane workshop to restore the default password. However, when the reciter is over 4,000km away this can become quite an inconvenience.
The TB8100 ethernet interface ensures this problem can be fixed in less than 10 minutes, via internet access, no matter what the location.
“The TB8100 Ethernet interface enables Tait to solve problems and support our customers via an internet connection where ever they may be”
Mark Pilkington, Tait Project Manager.
Tait dealer Direct Communications based in Perth connected the reciter to a non-secure ethernet port on its Local Area Network, temporarily making the IP address available to the Tait head office in Brisbane.
Tait Project Manager Mark Pilkington was then able to connect to that IP address. Using a hardware dongle (a small hardware device that connects to a computer to authenticate a piece of software) with the TB8100 Service Kit, Mark was able to access the reciter and restore the factory default password in less than 10 minutes.
