Most of you will know this part of the newsletter is usually kept aside for some thoughts from Tait Electronics Limited’s illustrious founder, Sir Angus Tait. And by now you have probably have heard of Angus’s passing at the age of 88.

I have been astounded by the amount of messages of support and the amount of condolences that have flooded in from all over the world. I should not have been surprised, Angus touched the lives of so many in the radio industry. Thanks to all of you who sent such messages: these have been relayed to Angus’s family.

What Angus wanted most was to ensure his company would succeed beyond his life-time. This is why he placed his shares into a trust just like Robert Bosch, founder of the power-tools company. In a turbulent industry, Angus wanted customers to benefit from long-term continuity of support.

Although, Tait staff will miss seeing him drive to work every day in his red Alpha-Romeo, we are all more determined than ever to fulfill his wishes. Finally, I’ll leave you with Angus’s final words of wisdom, which he shared with employees just before his death:

"What makes me optimistic about the future?

I know this company has a talented, committed and experienced team of people and we continue to attract new employees who are eager to make a difference. With this remarkable group of individuals, the Tait organisation can face the future with confidence and we can go on changing our world for the better."
