Rio Tinto Deploys Tait SINAD Voter for High Quality Voice Data
The Rio Tinto mine in the Pilbara uses Tait radio communications equipment for transporting data, including a significant number of Tait SINAD voters deployed in the West Angeles, Paraburdoo and Yandie mines.
Tait SINAD Voters are used to ensure that communications between mobiles and bases in a wide area network are of the highest quality, without the need for operator intervention.
Audio from active receivers is compared and continuously assessed for audio quality. The best audio from each vote decision is transmitted across the network.
The SINAD voters are particularly useful in mining environments where the landscape changes as pits are dug and mounds are raised; potentially disrupting audio quality.
Tait SINAD Voters increase mine safety by ensuring that important calls can always be heard.
