The Customer
In a 40 acre setting Botany Town Centre is one of New Zealand's largest shopping centres featuring more than 150 shops. Moving away from the traditional enclosed mall concept, Botany Town Centre is organised like a local community with its own lanes, parks and town square.
The Challenge
Botany Town Centre staff need to be contactable - anywhere in the 40 acre complex. A four-channel Tait T1810 system with PABX helps the centre operate smoothly. The new system provides coverage over the entire site - and beyond to surrounding areas.
And while coverage was important to the centre, they chose the Tait T1810 because of channel privacy, PABX interconnection and future proofing.
The Solution
Each major team on site - management, security, and cleaning - has been set up in virtual groups meaning each group doesn't need its own dedicated channel. Being able to set up private calls means the centre doesn't have the constant chatter that goes along with an open channel and it gives the centre the best of both worlds - enabling the option of a broadcast call which can involve everyone with a radio.
Contacting staff is easy too, with the T1810 system connected directly to the digital PABX system. This means radio users can be in direct contact with team members and shops in the complex simply by dialling through reception. The system is capable of expansion as the mall grows into the future.
