The Tait Foundation has sponsored a new category at this year’s New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards to be held in Auckland’s Sky City Convention Centre on 4 November 2006.

In his bid to do all he can to support NZ’s technology sector, Tait Electronics Limited Chairman, Angus Tait, will also present this year’s inaugural Hi-Tech Company Leader award.

“Leadership is crucial for New Zealand business in general and for today's hi-tech sector in particular. But leadership is just a concept. People don't follow concepts. They follow people. By sponsoring the Company Leader of the Year, Tait seeks to recognise all those leaders who are motivating their teams to achieve exceptional results,” said Angus Tait.

“Tait Electronics is a leader in the field of radio communications and we want to encourage other companies who are taking a leadership role in their particular market,” added Angus.

Judges for the Tait-sponsored category include: Google’s Chief Internet Evangelist Vinton Cerf; New Zealand born Andy Lark, Chief Marketing Office for LogLogic; Ann Winblad, Co-Founding Partner of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and Greg Horowitt, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Global CONNECT.
