Tait has expanded its APCO P25 product range to include DES encryption, Intrinsically Safe portables, a portable repeater and a 6-way multi-charger - and has also made many feature enhancements to further meet customer needs.

Guy Hooker, Digital Terminals Product Manager, says DES-OFB encryption is now available on all Tait P25 products, and will soon be followed by the more secure AES encryption.

"This encryption allows for full flexibility of key management and user key control, and the encryption operation is backed up with a number of security functions to ensure security is never compromised once a radio is in service," Guy says.

Further details about other Tait P25 product updates:

  • The new P25 Intrinsically Safe portable radios have Factory Mutual accreditation, allowing for use in hazardous areas such as oil and gas facilities.
  • The P25 portable repeater offers reliable coverage and high performance whenever temporary communications are required - ideal for emergency situations, and in remote areas where coverage is minimal. This customised product is available now.
  • The new 6-way multi charger carefully manages battery charging, ensuring the charge is as fast as possible, without over-charging.

Also, Tait P25 radio performance is continuously being improved, with the recent release offering enhancements such as voting and scanning, power consumption improvements and advances in areas such as receiver performance in marginal conditions.
