Campaign to Boost Student Interest in Engineering
Date : December 20, 2006
Tait is backing an initiative aimed at helping change perceptions of the engineering industry and encourage student interest in the field.
Speaking at the ICT in Canterbury Growth Pilot launch at the Connectivity 2006 trade event in Christchurch, Tait Electronics Managing Director Michael Chick said, "As one of the largest electronics companies in the southern hemisphere, we have little problem attracting skilled research and development specialists who like the New Zealand lifestyle."
"However we need to help develop 'homegrown' talent and do our most to ensure that teenagers continue to pick engineering courses right up into university," added Michael.
The Government-funded initiative will target schools in the Canterbury region with posters and other media.
