Environmental Responsibility at Tait

Our Vision: "Providing wireless-based communication solutions to enterprises, in a sustainable manner."
Tait is committed to environmental responsibility and the pursuit of a sustainable business. Using the guiding framework of The Natural Step (TNS), we are promoting sound environmental management in a technically and financially appropriate way.
ISO 14001 Accreditation
Excellence in environmental management at Tait has been recognized with the achievement of ISO 14001 certification. ISO 14001 is the international benchmark standard setting out the elements that make up an environmental management system.
Key elements that are focused on include the structures, planning activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes and resources employed in implementing environmental policies.
Our achievement is notable as we were the first company in New Zealand to gain certification to the ISO 14001 standard using an environmental management system based on The Natural Step sustainability framework.

RoHS and WEEE Directives
Tait's objective is to ensure that the products and services we supply are fit for purpose and are of the highest quality and reliability.
In keeping with this, we have a structured work program in place to meet the requirements of the WEEE and RoHS European Directives.
The RoHS and WEEE Directives are part of a series of EU environmental measures. The directives are closely linked and will be implemented within a similar timeframe.
A key difference between the two directives is the way they will be introduced. RoHS is a Single Market Directive, which means its provisions must be implemented uniformly in all EU member states. WEEE establishes minimum recycling criteria that member states may exceed, if they wish.
Tait compliance with the RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC
All shipments from the Tait factory into the European Union are now RoHS compliant, and the Tait factory's material supply chain is also compliant to the RoHS directive.
Product Status:
The T800, TB8100, TB7100 and TB9100 base stations, and the Tait Orca portable radios, are now compliant to the RoHS directive.
The TM8000 series mobile radios do not come within the scope of the RoHS directive, but instead come within the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive (2000/53/EC) and as such are deemed exempt. However, Tait is committed to environmental sustainability so also plans to bring these products to full RoHS compliance before the end of 2006.
The T2000 series mobile radios are at the end of their life and have been withdrawn from sale into the European Union in favor of their replacement, the TM8000 mobile radio series.
