The foundations have been laid for a building that will ensure Tait remains at the cutting edge of communications technology research. NZi3 (formerly UCi3) is a centre for ICT research due to open at the UniversityofCanterburyin September. Tait is one of five industry partners funding the project with the Government.

NZi3 will contain six research departments, including Wireless Communications, which will initially be led by former Tait employee Jeremy Rees.

Doug McConnell is Tait’s representative on the NZi3’s advisory committee and says the centre will be beneficial to boosting Tait’s research capabilities. Postgraduate and qualified researchers will also be based at the centre.
