Brazil - Strong uptake in Tait digital P25

Tait has continued its recent success in Brazil, winning 10 major projects for the supply of both trunked and conventional P25 digital radio equipment.

P25 Terminals and Systems
These recent sales will now bring the total number of Tait P25 terminals deployed in Brazil to over 6,500. This includes the supply of six large digital P25 systems to the Military and Civil Police of the São Paulo state. Tait worked with two partners - Alcatel-Lucent (civil works and linking) and SGM Telecom (services) for the supply of these systems, synergising the great technical capability of the three companies. It is expected that all six systems will be fully operational by mid-2008.

While most of the sales have come from São Paulo state, Tait has also been awarded a tender with the Military Police in the northern Brazilian state, Pernambuco. They will be using Tait P25 mobiles and portables.

Oil and Gas
Continuing Tait's recent success in the oil sector both in Brazil and worldwide, Tait has been awarded a major tender with Brazilian oil giant Petrobras, for the supply of 836 trunked P25 terminals in 800MHz. These Tait terminals will be used in a Petrobras oil refinery in the north of Brazil and due to the hazardous nature of a refinery environment all Tait P25 portables will be supplied as intrinsically safe.
