TM8254 launch brings more configuration choices
Tait Electronics Limited has introduced a new trunked/conventional radio with hand-held control head to round off an analogue mobile range that now offers the broadest of configuration choices.
"The new TM8254 places a tough, reliable and versatile mobile radio into the palm of your hand," said Paul Elmes, Product Manager, Mobiles. "With its hand-held control head, fleet owners can save space and reduce risk of damage to modern vehicle interiors."
The new conventional/trunked mobile radio is the latest in a batch of Tait innovations such as extended remote options and dual head combinations that offers new installation flexibility.
"Functionality and reliability have always been a strength of the TM8200s," added Paul Elmes. "Now we can add scope of configuration choices to the list of benefits."
TM8200: total mobile radio solution
Paul Elmes continued: "Like our portables, all our mobiles are MIL-STD 810 C, D, E and F rated. This makes them reliable and cost effective over the long term. The fact that across large fleets, many different vehicle types can be moving through and between different types of network adds another level of complexity. A solution from the TM8200 series meets these more complex needs."
NEW TM8254: mobile radio in the palm of your hand
Thanks to the TM8254's hand-held control head and fast speed-of-install, fleet downtime is minimised. With the optional mounting kits, radio bodies can be installed in the rear of vehicle for added flexibility.
Precise dialling and short data message creation is possible because the exact angle and distance is controlled by the user. Six programmable function keys and a full alphanumeric keypad can be used to access the 1,500 conventional channels (built-in CTCSS and DCS). As a Tait trunked/conventional radio, the TM8254 can make/take all MPT 1327 trunked call types and also work across up to four separate trunked networks.
"Tait prides itself on working with organisations to create the right fit, and the new TM8254 helps cement that reputation," Paul Elmes, Product Manager, Mobiles.
"Tait prides itself on working with organisations to create the right fit, and the new TM8254 helps cement that reputation," said Paul Elmes. An internal modem and easy connection to an external GPS receiver and optional GPS display allow simple development of a total AVL solution. Even the button mats / control decals can be customised for user convenience.
The lens inserts of the TM8254 can be customised, for example using two or more different colours as a visual differentiator when using multiple radios. The TM8254 package is rounded off with a powerful 10W speaker for greater audio clarity.
Other innovations across the TM8200 series include:
- Now all radios in the TM8200 series offer 2400 baud FFSK as standard.
- Extended remote option allowing the control head to be installed up to 1km away from the radio body.
- Greater GPS accuracy on the four line displays of the TM8250, TM8255 and new TM8254 (now down to one tenth of a second of latitude and longitude). "Depending on how close to the equator you are, this can mean a difference of being accurate to within 3 metres instead of 30," concluded Paul Elmes.
