Tait Launches High Performance LCD Display Mobile
Date : December 8, 2004
A large alphanumeric LCD display and a comprehensive easy-to-use menu structure are key features of Tait's latest conventional mobile radio, the TM8250.
Part of the TM8000 series of intelligent and state-of-the-art analogue mobile radios, the Tait TM8250 is a robust, high performance radio with 1500 conventional channels, ideal for fast-moving mobile teams such as emergency services and transport fleets.
International mobile radio supplier Tait Electronics has developed the TM8250 to meet customer demands for a powerful radio with a large number of channels and a high quality user interface. As with all TM8000 series mobiles, the TM8250 incorporates three key strengths - ruggedness, high speed data transmission, and ease of integration.
"With its enhanced LCD display and intuitive menu structure, the TM8250 conventional radio is the ultimate choice for mobile teams who rely on instant voice and data communications to keep in touch," says Tait Product Group Manager Terminals, Martin Ball.
"Ease of use and visibility of a high level of information on a radio are important features to many of our customers with teams constantly on the move, and the TM8250 offers this in conjunction with greater channel capacity, sturdy design and excellent RF performance even in the harshest conditions."
The user-friendly menu structure allows easy navigation to all of the radio's functions, including channels, zones and display settings. The large LCD display allows users to clearly and concisely view channel information, including text and icons, and displays up to four lines of message text.
"We've also developed some key optional features for the TM8250, including a keypad microphone which can be used to easily select channels and make calls, and a remote control head allowing the radio control head to be mounted up to six metres away from the radio body for greater flexibility," Mr Ball says.
The analogue TM8000 mobile range was launched late last year with the release of the TM8100 conventional radios. The TM8000 range sets a standard of excellence for analogue mobile radios, with the following key attributes:
- Rugged construction with robust specifications -
the radios meet stringent specifications for reliability and have been almost entirely constructed using Surface Mount Technology (SMT). - High speed data -
TM8000 radios are capable of data speeds of more than 9600 bits per second, and feature an internal high speed software-based modem. A Digital Signal Processor (DSP) provides exceptionally fast and reliable data processing. - Advanced system integration capabilities -
These radios feature a large options board area and multiple ports for auxiliary connectors, and a hardware developer's kit is available to help provide value-added solutions for customers.
At a time when many global radio communications suppliers are focussing largely on digital equipment, Tait continues to invest in both analogue and digital technologies. Mr Ball says the company expects solid demand for the TM8250, with features that have been developed taking into account feedback from customers in key markets.
"We believe this radio will be extremely popular among existing customers who have relied on our T2000 radios for many years but are now looking for more sophistication, intelligence and state-of-the-art technology in their communications. New customers will also embrace the TM8250 for its high quality user interface coupled with larger channel capacity," Mr Ball says.
The TM8250 mobile radio is being released to worldwide markets this month. Next year will see the release of the TM8255, a dual mode conventional/MPT 1327 trunked radio also providing 1500 channels.
